While certain collectors and enthusiasts favor the increasingly flamboyant 1956 and 1957 Chevrolets,  many appreciate the clean and subtle 1955 line with its impeccable styling and Chevys first available small-block V-8 power teams. Racing success and movie stardom cemented the legend, especially as driven by Harrison Ford in George Lucas iconic American Graffiti and by James Taylor and Dennis Wilson in the cult classic Two Lane Blacktop. The top-of-the-line Bel Air is the most sought-after with its upgraded trim and color choices, especially the Bel Air convertible.

Combining the best classic appearance with select upgrades for an outstanding driving experience, this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible is the product of a concours-level, body-off restoration and build. Outstanding in quality and detailing throughout, this Bel Airs laser-straight body features exceptional panel fit and a high gloss black paint finish, complemented by excellent chrome, a white power top and factory-style red and white two-tone interior.

Ample power is delivered by a late-1980s Chevy crate motor with 4-bolt mains, equipped with a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, Holley Sniper EFI system, black air cleaner and black finned aluminum rocker covers. Power and great freeway cruising is delivered by a Borg-Warner 5-speed manual transmission with a 1988 date code and iconic Hurst shifter with period style cue ball hand grip. Excellent supporting features include a new water pump and aluminum radiator, modern dual-circuit brake master cylinder and power-assisted brakes with discs up font. A factory AM radio and clock round out the interior and the trunk compartment features a factory style spare wheel and tire and floor mat. Polished 17-inch Torq-Thrust wheels by American Racing are surrounded by modern radial performance tires. A high-performance dual exhaust system delivers a great sound. According to a recent and highly enjoyable test drive conducted by us at The Last Detail, this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible is meticulously sorted and delivers an amazing overall experience.
