RECENT SERVICE AND DETAILING

Introduced at the 1954 New York International Motor Sport Show alongside the 300SL Gullwing, the 190SL was conceived by famed U.S. Mercedes-Benz importer Max Hoffman. Similar in appearance to the 300SL yet less complex and costly, the 190SL continues to deliver a stylish and sophisticated Grand Touring experience that continues to attract buyers today. A SOHC 4-cylinder engine, 4-speed gearbox, and Alfin finned drum brakes provided brisk performance and reasonable economy. Internally designated W121™, the production-ready 190SL debuted at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show and customer deliveries soon followed. An immediate success, the 190 SL earned design awards in Holland, Switzerland and at France™s Grand Prix d'Elegance. While not intended for competition, the 190SL was quite effective with factory support, taking the 2.0-liter class victory ahead of a Ferrari Mondial at the 1956 Macao Grand Prix and the under 2.0-liter class win at Casablanca that year. Confirming Max Hoffman™s keen sense of buyers, the 190SL outsold the 300SL eight to one and encouraged Mercedes™ longstanding single-platform policy for its sports cars. Virtually all the era™s top personalities have favored the 190SL and the model remains a favorite of today™s collectors and Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts everywhere.

Continuing to benefit from a quality restoration performed around 2010, this 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL features a refinish in its original DB 158 Light Grey paint color, handsomely complemented by an interior compartment restored during 2013 at The Last Detail in factory-specified Code 1079 Red leather upholstery. Gleaming brightwork, a Red boot cover, correctly finished factory wheels, and a beautifully detailed interior including a period pushbutton radio provide the finishing touches. Items included with the vehicle include a spare, roadside jack, lug wrench, and tools. Documents include restoration photos, service records, an owner™s manual, and the original Bill of Sale. Most recently, a mechanical service and professional detailing performed by us at The Last Detail ensure this striking and perennially collectible 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL is ready to enjoy. Contact us today to see it for yourself, obtain full details, and take delivery for summer touring and showing!
