1950 Pontiac Silver Streak Deluxe Fastback. Black with a gray interior. This 50 Silver Streak is a truly remarkable survivor, one that preserves its originality. The exterior has had a single quality trim-off refinish in the original color, and the exceptionally straight factory sheet metal underneath is totally sound and solid. All chrome trim is completely in great condition. The interior mirrors the appearance of the outside as well. Completely original, it is in superb timewarp condition. The seat covers are especially well preserved, looking nearly as they did off the showroom floor. A clean and crisp headliner shows no sag or tears, and is pulled tautly at all four corners. Even the gauges remain perfectly clear. An untouched underside and trunk all show in very good original condition. Mechanically, this Silver Streak is in excellent condition as well all the way to the lighted hood emblem, and retains the original flathead 6 cylinder and 3 speed column shift, which moves through the gears with no problem. All in all, this wonderful original survivor is a treat. After shaky auto sales in the early 30s due to the depression, Pontiac began to gain ground when it introduced its signature silver-streak chrome trim. Continuing to make headway into the early 40s with solid automobiles, the war eventually brought production to a halt as the US auto industry retooled for military supply. Reemerging in 1946, the Pontiac received some design changes with the 48 model getting the most elegant grill of that model series. Record sales followed, and Pontiacs place was cemented in history. New models were introduced in 49, the precursors of many more models to come. This special survivor is a true collectible experience. Step into this classic fastback and you are greeted by crisp stately gauges and a comfortable clean interior. Turn the key, and the flathead six cylinder engine comes burbling to life. The 3 speed column shift slides easily through the gates, and quickly you are out on the road. This 50 has no trouble keeping up with modern traffic, and a classic ride and dynamic is present all around. A truly special original ride.
