We see lots of straight axle Corvettes, but rarely one this nice! This investment quality car has been subject to an extensive restoration and is ready to show. In 1962, GM eliminated the trim and painted side coves, which also meant that two-tone Corvettes were gone for good. This Fawn Beige roadster is stunning in person along with its matching interior and unique fawn beige convertible top. Forget factory flaws and correct blemishes, the paint on this convertible looks a mile deep emphasizing the clean new details for 1962, like the cove trim insert and bright rocker panel moldings. The matching convertible top was installed in the last twelve months and the rear plastic window is crystal clear. The chrome bumpers, all exterior trim, tail light and turn signal lenses are in excellent condition. Weather stripping has been replaced and is soft and pliable. Newer whitewall radials have been fitted to the original steel wheels, which wear correct spinner hubcaps for a period-perfect look.
The fully restored Fawn interior features “like new” seat covers, seatbelts, dash pads, loop carpet, and door panels. Gauges are excellent as well with no fading and clear lenses. An AM/FM/Cassette Stereo has taken the place of the original Wonderbar AM radio.
This 62 Corvette is equipped with its correct numbers matching 327cui/300hp V8 and a 4 Speed Transmission. The undercarriage is clean and free of any undercoating. The frame is solid throughout.
The 1962 Corvette Convertible marked the end for several elements that had been closely associated with the C1 Corvette and was the only C1 ‘Vette with a 327 cu. in. engine. The curved windshield and solid rear axle disappeared in 1963. The soft top convertible-only style was no longer the only option for buyers and the trunk lid and exposed headlights were also eliminated. The C1 was a unique Corvette and still a prized possession today.
This car has been fully serviced, and all instrument gauges, lights, turn signals, brakes, engine, transmission and rear-end are all in good operating condition. This car truly looks, runs and drives like new! Included with the sale are the first owner’s Bill of Sale and various registration forms, Owner’s Manual, Sales Brochure and Recent Service Records.
