For the Model Ts final years in production, the venerable Tin Lizzie was marketed as the Improved Ford from about July 1925. Benefiting handsomely from the first major restyling since 1917, Model T revisions included new fenders, running boards, bodies, and even an updated chassis that lowered ride height by one full inch. A wide array of mechanical updates brought greater ease of operation, safety, and a more pleasant driving experience. Chassis updates included a longer rear crossmember for improved structural integrity, plus modified springs and front spindles. Other 1926-27 improvements included 11-inch rear brake drums operated by the emergency brake lever, larger foot pedals for low speed and the foot brake, plus a wider internal transmission brake for greater durability. While Ford had not yet performed annual model-year changeovers, a wide range of handsome paint colors was now available, while fenders and running boards remained Black. Other improvements included standard 21-inch balloon-type tires, wire wheels optional from January 1926, relocation of the gas tank from underneath the drivers seat to the cowl (excluding the Fordor sedan), and the return of bright trim. After nearly 20 years in production, the last Model T left the factory in May 1927. With nearly 15 million built in all, it remains one of the worlds most successful and influential motorcars.

This wonderful 1926 Ford Model T Roadster is an original right-hand drive example that was delivered to Melbourne, Australia, where it was purchased new by the sellers father-in-law. Clearly a prized possession with single-family ownership from new, this Model T continues to benefit handsomely from a restoration performed by Steve Stapley of Stapleys Restorations over a 2 -year timeframe. Correct factory-optional features appropriate to the Model T include the wire-spoke wheels, a speedometer, Nickel-plated radiator shell, and thermostat-type radiator cap. Additional items include an owners manual, side windows, and a tool kit, plus miscellaneous spare parts and various old parts that were retained during the restoration. Correctly restored to OEM condition, unmodified, and utterly charming throughout, this 1926 Ford Model T Roadster celebrates the foundation of the Ford Motor Company, and it stands as a great example of one of the most historic automobiles ever produced. See it for yourself! Contact us today, get full details, and make it the cornerstone of your collection of one to many automotive greats.
