Ford president Edsel Ford may have been losing his struggle with Harry Bennett for effective control of the Ford Motor Company in 1937, but his influence was never more apparent than in the fresh and modern styling of the companys automobiles for 1937. In fact, many of the new design cues introduced on the landmark 1936 Lincoln-Zephyr now appeared on the mainstay Ford lineup, providing an aerodynamic and modern look with wonderful Art Deco flair. Most prominent among the new body design was the striking frontal treatment, incorporating flush-mounted teardrop headlamps, a gorgeous, V-shape tapered grille motif, and streamlined hood vents. While a longstanding Ford model, the sporty Roadster made its final appearance for 1937 as the market had been shifting to a preference toward closed body styles. Priced from $696 new, the Roadster was only offered in the Model 78 V-8 model range in top-level DeLuxe trim for 1937. Just 1,250 produced and precious few remain today, including just 12 listed in the Early Ford V-8 Club registry.

Captivating in every possible respect, this extremely rare 1937 Ford Model 78 DeLuxe Roadster benefits handsomely from a top-quality restoration with virtually no expense spared. Colors are period-correct and excellent, comprising rich Burgundy paint over tan upholstery. Offered only one way when new, this DeLuxe Roadster is powered by Fords top available engine for 1937 the renowned 221 CI Flathead, factory-rated at 85 horsepower. In addition to gleaming bumpers and brightwork, the Roadster is nicely accented by a Greyhound accessory hood mascot and body-color steel wheels mounting V-8 scripted hubcaps. Other desirable features and options include twin windshield wipers, a heater, radio, DeLuxe steering wheel and dual taillights. A rumple seat adds a sporty touch and provides room for friends to enjoy this rare early Ford V-8 Roadsters delightful experience. Accompanying items include removable side windows and a tool pouch, plus a top-boot cover, miscellaneous spare parts, and service records. Offered in spectacular condition, this rare 1937 Ford Model 78 DeLuxe Roadster is a 1930s icon and one of the most enjoyable of all the great early V-8 Ford models produced during the prewar years, delivering style, power and grace far above its value-price market position.
