An iconic design and one of the most visually striking of all automobile lines of the immediate pre-World War II era, the 1939 Ford models were among the final and finest expressions of the brilliant design partnership of company president Edsel B. Ford and former New York yacht designer Eugene T. Bob Gregorie. Once again offered for 1939 in Standard and DeLuxe trim, with the Standard line appearing much like the 1938 DeLuxe cars, Fords DeLuxe offerings for 1939 were distinguished by their much more modern overall appearance. Most noticeable among the refinements applied to the DeLuxe Fords for 1939 were Art Deco-style teardrop headlamps and a lowered V-shaped radiator grille with fine vertical bars. Simple chrome trim now replaced the former hood louvers and DeLuxe bodies also featured smoother profiles. The 1939 DeLuxe Fords also featured a modernistic Art Deco interior motif complementing the handsome body design. Underneath, newly available Lockheed-type hydraulic brakes, revised cylinder heads for the renowned flathead V-8 engine, and welcome detail improvements provided mechanical sophistication to match the visual beauty of the 39 Ford line.

While some 532,000 Ford passenger cars were built during 1939, precious few survive today and quite likely, fewer still are as well-preserved and presented as this 1939 Ford DeLuxe Fordor a 4-door Sedan in Ford parlance. Benefiting from a meticulous restoration with virtually no expense spared, it once served as a push car for a dry lakes racecar, depicted in the book Hot Rods in the Forties. Ample power is delivered by a Mercury V-8, fortified with dual Stromberg carburetors,  Edelbrock cylinder heads, and a great-sounding dual exhaust system. A proper 3-speed manual transmission and Columbia 2-speed rear end deliver the power. If the Flathead V-8s exhaust sound is not enough, the venerable Ford is equipped with a hidden infotainment system featuring Bluetooth connectivity. A fresh clutch service and detailing make this great prewar Ford ready to drive and enjoy. In addition to an owners manual, the Ford is also accompanied by a large box of documentation including service files. A true piece of hot rod history, this 1939 Ford DeLuxe Fordor simply must be seen. Call us today for a test drive and get ready to make it yours!
