1946 Chevrolet Ton Pickup. Stunning black and dark green two tone exterior with a flawless gray and brown interior. This Art Deco era pickup has been restored to its original glory, sporting an exceptional quality refinish and solid, straight body. The magnificent signature chrome grill and other chrome have received attention as well with all pieces showing high quality. A set of well finished wood slats in the bed round out this crisp package. In the interior, a like new bench, firm and solid, is present. The dash, in gray, looks as it did off the showroom floor, glossy and well presented, and the gauges are clear and perfectly readable. The underside remains in great completely solid condition, as does the engine compartment. This pickup is equipped with the floor shift 3-speed gearbox and 6-cylinder engine. Introduced in 41, the new Chevrolet truck's entire front end: hood, louvers, fenders, bumpers, headlights, parking lights and grille were all new. When combined with a 1 1/2-inch increase in wheelbase, the result was a larger, more impressive truck. Chevrolet engineers backed up the truck's bigger look with more power. The new half-ton was built on a 115-inch wheelbase. Chevrolet ceased building civilian models in 1942 due to the war and returned in 1946 complete with a full line of trucks sporting chrome trim. These trucks stayed in production until about May 1, 1947 when the Advanced Design trucks entered production. This 46 pickup is truly a wonderful slice of American heritage. Rest your foot on the running board and hop into the cozy yet utilitarian cabin. A wonderful view down the hood greets you. Turn the key, start the ignition, and the smooth pulling six-cylinder simmers to life with ease and settles into a subdued growl. Grab hold of the floor shift 3 speed, put it into first, and a nostalgic ride of a lifetime awaits.
