As Lincolns first new postwar models, the 1949-51 series featured the modern envelope body styling theme shared with Ford Motor Companys upmarket Mercury lineup, but on a longer-wheelbase chassis yielding greater passenger space. Fresh styling cues included frenched head- and tail lights, a wide low-profile grille, low roofline, rear-fender skirts, and restrained, yet effective brightwork. Ample power was delivered by a new 337 CI flathead Ford V-8 engine developing over 150 HP and the new Lincolns could now easily exceed 100 mph on command. A GM-sourced Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission was optional equipment by 1951. Among todays knowledgeable collectors, the 1949-51 Lincolns are recognized as luxurious, quiet, high-quality automobiles capable of covering long distances almost effortlessly. In addition to scoring a creditable ninth-place finish in the first edition of the deadly Carrera Panamericana road race in 1950, the 1949-51 Lincolns also remain famous for their high-profile White House service.

Coded L-72C within the Lincoln model catalog, the low-production Lido was a glamorous, specially trimmed Lincoln 6-passenger Club Coupe equipped with either a canvas or vinyl roof covering and a high-level custom interior. Offered for only two model years (1950-51), the Lido was built to compete with GM's new crop of hardtop models. Just 4,482 Lincoln Style L-72B and L-72C Lido Club Coupes were produced in all for 1951, with an unknown number of Lidos, numbering perhaps 1,000, among them, according to expert estimates.

This exceptionally attractive and rare 1951 Lincoln Lido Club Coupe continues to benefit from a high-level restoration completed under a previous owner circa 2009. Handsomely finished in Brewster Green and accented by a White vinyl roof covering and Tan cloth interior, the Lido is highly equipped to match its captivating style with power brakes, plus options including a  Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission and AM radio. Correct steel wheels mount full-diameter bright hubcaps and 1950s-style wide whitewall tires. In addition to a spare wheel/tire, roadside jack, and owners manual, this exceptionally rare and attractive Lincoln is accompanied by 3 keys plus service records. A wonderful example of one of the most stylish and well-equipped American luxury cars of its era, this rare and beautifully presented 1951 Lincoln Lido offers an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the finest automobiles of the early 1950s.
