The 200-series cars were fully redesigned and replaced the bulbous 1948-1950 Packards which were eliminated in 1951. Both were considered Junior series cars and were most notably separated from the 300 and 400 models by their shorter wheelbases (122 versus 127) and tail lamp configurations. Those of the Junior were vertical while the Seniors were horizontal. Besides their unique body styles, the 250s were adorned with three jet-louvers on each quarter-panel. In addition, Packard became the first auto-maker to offer power brakes in 1951. Manufactured by Bendix exclusively for Packard, they were trademarked with the name Easeamatic.
