The first redesigned General Motors vehicles produced after WW II, the “Advance-Design" Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks entered production in May 1947. Offered along three series, they were all designated “Thrift-Master" models, with the 3100 series denoting the half-ton pickup trucks. Thanks to GM engineers working under John G. Wood, the new truck cabs were at once wider, lower, more comfortable and more user-friendly than ever before, with room for three occupants. by virtue of widening made possible by lowering the body down and around the frame rails. A host of mechanical advancements also made them easier to operate, resulting in their strong collectability today.
Sporting the popular 5-Window cab style offering excellent visibility, this 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup features the first use of pushbutton-type door handles Benefiting from a high-quality, frame-up restoration, this very fine classic Chevy pickup is powered by an upgraded 235 CI Chevrolet inline 6-cylinder engine, enhanced by a polished and finned Wayne aluminum rocker cover and matching crankcase cover. Other highlights include restoration of the cab and interior to factory original condition, accented by new or polished brightwork throughout, a painstaking repaint in Emerald Green with Ivory accents, and both the cargo-box wood strips and stake rails were given a high-gloss finish. A hood ornament, bumper guards, period style amber fog lamps, and twin rear tail lamps with “Blue Dot” center jewels provide a wonderful ‘50s look.
