Delivering performance that remains impressive even by todays standards, the XK120 redefined Jaguar as a constructor of the finest and most desirable automobiles. Its superb DOHC XK engine propelled Jaguar racing cars to five electrifying victories at Le Mans between 1951 and 1957 and in the United States, the XK120 was an early mount of racing legends including Walt Hansgen and eventual Grand Prix World Champion, Phil Hill. It also powered Jaguars road cars with updates well into the 1990s. Maintaining the XK120s competitive edge in racing and showroom sales, the SE or Special Equipment package raised output to 180 horsepower with high-lift cams and included wire wheels, fog lamps and overdrive.
