The1963 Chevy Nova SS COPO we are offering here is finished in brilliant ember red with black interior and is in fully restored, pristine condition throughout. The 33,000 miles indicated on the odometer are believed to be actual. It features the legendary 283 cubic inch V-8, Powerglide transmission, power front disc brakes, posi-traction, pushbutton radio, and SS trim. In addition, a CD player has been professionally installed and tastefully hidden in the tissue dispenser. 1962 saw the introduction of the first ever Chevy Nova, or Chevy II. This design proved highly successful for Chevrolet. The nearly effortless V-8 power combined with the low weight of the Nova made it a favorite, both then and now, for drag racing muscle. Its worthy to note `63 Novas could not officially have V-8 engines (the standard was an l-6). However, dealers could either install them, or order them installed at the factory under a COPO, or Central Office Production Order. 1963 was the first year of the SS package, which included the additional SS badges and revised interior and exterior trim. The SS nomenclature can, to this day, still be found on higher performance Chevrolet vehicles. Our COPO Nova has been de-coded and we therefore believe its the original engine, color combination, as well as a true SS. It was originally a very rust-free southern car. In has since undergone a correct, frame-off, rotisserie restoration to a very high standard. Body gaps and shut lines are excellent. During the restoration, the engine horsepower was increased to a very respectable 275. In comparison, the original was only 220! In addition, power front disc brakes and a posi-traction rear axle were added to complete the performance package. Lastly, our beautiful SS has been thoroughly inspected by TLD technicians prior to being offered for sale.
