Every once in awhile, we at TLD come across an automobile that leaves us speechless. This extremely rare and unusual Ferrarina PT Letizia, although not a full sized automobile, is one of those. It was manufactured in Italy in the early 1960s by Letizia, a company started by Enzo Monari, a chauffeur and bodyguard to Enzo Ferrari. He wanted to build a miniature, pontoon-fendered 1957 Ferrari Testa Rossa for privileged children. This fiberglass coachwork is one of those limited production models. It features a fully functional suspension; including upper and lower control arms and coil springs with real knock-off wire wheels. The red and black interior is completely original, however it has had one factory correct Ferrari Red exterior repaint. Working headlights and tail lights add to its allure, but its whats under the hood that make this collectible an amazing miniature. Powered by a throaty 180 watt, 12 volt electric dynamo putting out 0.3bhp at a suitable Ferrari-esk 5000 rpm, this Ferrarina will not disappoint. A similar car was tested by Road & Track in the April, 2000 issue. It produced 0-6MPH in 2.1 sec, a quarter mile time of 104.9 seconds and a top speed of 8.7MPH. A copy of the article and detailed spec sheet is available. Technically it doesn't have a transmission, however the sporty shifter does allow you to shift into forward or reverse. This truly unique collectible is ready for its place in your "tricked out" garage or memorabilia room. Having just completed a thorough TLD inspection and detailing, it is now ready for show and many years of driving pleasure!!!!
