Cadillac reached an all-time production record of 165,959 vehicles for 1964, with the last rolling off the assembly line just as demolition began to make room for new conveyor pits allowing greater production capacity. Part of that success was due to a mild styling update for 1964 including a new grille treatment wrapping around the front fenders and the last appearance of Cadillac's famed tailfins, this time with a discreet, fine-blade motif.
