From launch in late 1962, the second-generation Corvette Sting Ray was a massive leap forward in every respect. Its futuristic and almost otherworldly body design, penned by Peter Brock and guided to production reality by Larry Shinoda under GM design chief Bill Mitchell, remains a design landmark today. Corvette engineering director Zora Arkus-Duntov forcefully ensured the new Corvette was equipped with four-wheel independent suspension and a fast-growing list of available powertrain and race-intended options, with four-wheel disc brakes finally standard on the Corvette by 1965.
By 1966, the Corvette was Americas only true, series-produced sports car and with all of its many refinements, Corvettes from that year stand tall among the absolute best of the breed. While the Corvettes available big-block 427 V-8 grabbed headlines for 1966, savvy buyers opted for the lighter 327 small-block V-8 for excellent weight balance and handling. Easy to maintain and with 300 rated horsepower on tap, the 327 Corvette was capable of beating many more-powerful but front-heavy competitors off the line and easily left them behind in the curves.
Sporting a flawless Mosport Green paint finish over a Dark Green interior, this gorgeous 1966 Chevrolet Corvette 327/300 Coupe comes to market with only 45k original miles of use. Retaining the numbers matching 327 CI V-8 engine backed by a Powerglide automatic transmission, this Corvette is particularly well equipped with factory-installed air conditioning, plus features and options including an AM/FM radio with power antenna, power steering, and a handsome wood grain steering wheel. Side-exit exhaust pipes provide an amazing soundtrack at speed on the road. Riding on a set of turbine-style aluminum knock-off wheels a final-year option for 1966 mounting period style gold stripe tires, this Corvette looks simply amazing in every possible respect. Offered for sale with a freshly competed service, this highly optioned and equipped 1966 Corvette Coupe is an outstanding example of the immensely collectible and enjoyable second-generation C2 Corvette line, ready for a lucky new owner to enjoy as desired.
