An immediate hit from launch at the March 1961 Geneva Salon, Jaguar’s sexy, projectile-shaped E-Type, known as the ‘XKE’ in North America, remains a design icon with race-bred performance that continues to captivate sports-car enthusiasts everywhere. The successor to the glorious C- and D-Type sports racers that propelled Jaguar to 5 Le Mans wins during the 1950s, the E-Type was essentially a racing car for the road, advertised by Jaguar as the first series-production sports car capable of 150 mph. Steady development brought improved interior comfort and from 1964, a larger 4.2-liter engine and synchromesh gearbox. Its original styling was left essentially undisturbed and enjoys universal acclaim  as a design benchmark, with an E-Type on permanent display at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT), this original left-hand drive 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2-Litre roadster was manufactured on March 30, 1966 and sent to the United States on April 2, 1966 via Jaguar Cars, New York. It was owned and restored by the E-Type specialists at JK Restorations in 1989, with concours-quality bodywork and Opalescent Dark Green paint over excellent Tan leather upholstery which appears excellent and sparingly used. The powerful DOHC Jaguar ‘XK’ 6-cylinder engine was rebuilt by JK Restorations in 2017. Desirable features include a period pushbutton radio, grille and bumper guards and wire-spoke wheels. Obviously a high-quality restoration, this handsome 1966 XKE is accompanied by a tool kit, spare wheel/tire and a knock-off wheel hammer. Documents include JCNA show judging sheets, engine rebuild receipts, and a JDHT Certificate. Looking great throughout, this captivating XKE also benefits from a fresh service and professional detailing, making it ready for enjoyable top-down driving. See it today!
