Following the late-1962 launch of the stunning new Corvette Sting Ray for 1963, the relentless development work by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his engineering team quickly unleashed a virtually endless series of high-performance updates and options that kept the Corvette ahead of the pack and, with judicious preparation, a formidable contender on the track. Launched with new independent rear suspension and equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes by 1965, the Sting Ray was one of the world?s finest sports cars available. The Mark IV "big-block" V-8 engine arrived by '65, giving the Corvette the firepower to take on the world?s best anywhere.
While one of the most sought-after collector cars today, the 1967 Corvette Sting Ray was not intended to be, scheduled for replacement that year by a new body design inspired by the wild GM Mako Shark show car, but given a new lease on life when it was decided the new body style was not quite production-ready. A total of 22,940 Corvettes were produced for 1967, of which the majority, numbering 14,436, were Convertibles. Performance-minded buyers stepped up for the potent, yet street-friendly RPO L68 mill, priced at $305.50 and powering 2,101 Corvettes for '67.
Featuring the potent RPO L68 427 CI V-8 engine factory-rated at 400 HP with "Tri-Power" triple-carburetor induction, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible also includes a 4-speed manual transmission. Handsomely finished in Elkhart Blue with matching upholstery, the Corvette's features, options and amenities include a tinted windshield, power windows, steering and brakes, alloy bolt-on wheels, an AM/FM radio, and the year-round comfort of air conditioning. Confirming its excellence, the Corvette earned a succession of awards during 2015, including the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Triple Diamond Award, NCRS Top Flight honors, and Bloomington Gold Certification.
