1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL. Silver with blue interior. Rare, desirable 4 speed manual gearbox. This SL is a great example and shows around 40,000 miles (60,000 km). The exterior is in good condition with no oxidation of the paint surface and no known rust. Additionally, the factory hardtop is included. The interior also supports the mileage and has been well maintained, with the seats and carpeting showing less wear than average. Mechanically, this SL is in great condition as well. The engine retains a brisk pull, with a solid clutch and positively engaging transmission that enthusiasts will enjoy. The new SL was debuted in 1963, replacing the older gullwing era SLs. With it the new SLs brought advancements in both styling and equipment. The treacherous swing axle of the previous car was replaced with an independent rear suspension, allowing for greatly improved handling, especially at higher speeds. The fuel injection system (a motoring first for the previous SL) was also reworked, greatly improving reliability and lowering maintenance troubles. The front drum brakes were replaced with a more powerful disc/caliper system. Attractively styled and easy to maintain and operate, the 230/250/280 SL series are regarded as one of the most collectible Mercedes-Benz vehicles. On the road, our 230 SL is a solid driving experience. The 2.3L I6 engine is peppy without being overbearing. An independent rear suspension keeps the light convertible firmly planted, and steering is direct with good road feel. A 4 speed manual transmission connects you with the car, greatly enhancing the SLs already sporty personality. The convertible top raises and lowers with a minimum of effort. Inside, the gauges read clearly and easily, and the interior is free from dirt or grime. As with all of our vehicles, this 230 SL has been inspected and prepared to our highest TLD standards.
