When GMs Oldsmobile Division launched its all-new Toronado personal luxury car in the fall of 1965, it became an instant design and engineering icon. The first front-wheel drive production vehicle from GM and the first such American automobile produced since the Cord 810/812 of the mid-1930s, the Toronado was named Motor Trend magazines Car of the Year for 1966. The Toronado offered innovative drivetrain packaging with its Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission mounted under one cylinder bank of the 425 cubic-inch V-8 engine, and chain-type drivetrain. Despite weighing nearly 5,000 pounds, the Toronados balance was near-perfect, and with 375 bhp on tap for 1966 and 10 more in 1967, this ideal Grand Touring machine could easily top 130. Today, with its athletic, chiseled lines based upon GM advanced stylist David Norths early Blue Flame Car sketches, the first-generation Toronado remains an unqualified stylistic benchmark from the fertile era under legendary GM Styling chief Bill Mitchell.

Formerly owned by noted collector Milton Robson, this 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado is an original survivor that remains in excellent, collector-grade condition with just under 10,250 actual miles at the time of listing. Retaining the original paint finish and interior, the Toronado is equipped with the optional bucket-style Strato-Bench front seat with individual seatbacks,  an AM/FM radio, tilt steering column, and power-assisted brakes and steering. Blade-style front fenders, pop-up headlamps, and a Kamm-type rear treatment are among the sleek Toronados unforgettable visual cues. A full-size spare wheel/tire, roadside jack, and lug wrench are included, along with the original books/manuals, color selection book, and dealer-issued Protect-O-Plate, plus copies of previous titles and the last registration document. In addition to professionally applied ceramic paint coating, this exceptionally original and well preserved survivor is an outstanding example of Americas first front-drive automobile of the postwar era.  Experience it for yourself by contacting us today for full details, viewing arrangements, and a test drive.
