Launched for 1966, the Bronco was Ford Motor Company's first dedicated 4x4 sport-utility vehicle, aimed at the growing market already occupied by the Jeep and International Harvester Scout. Ford staffers Donald N. Frey and Paul G. Axelrad led Bronco design and mechanicals included a unique body, frame and suspension, while the brakes and 9-inch rear axle were borrowed from the Ford F-100 truck line. The 4WD transfer case was a Dana-sourced unit and through 1971, a Dana 30 front axle was utilized. Underpinnings comprised a coil-spring front suspension and leaf springs to the rear. The Bronco's excellent design and short wheelbase provided a tight 35-foot turning radius.

The Bronco featured a purposeful and instantly recognizable square body design with flat glass, no-frills bumpers, and a short wheelbase. Initial body styles included a wagon, pickup-style half-cab, and spartan roadster. Interior accommodations included front bucket seats, a rear bench seat, and tachometer. Standard power was provided by Ford's 105-horsepower, 170 cubic-inch 'six' at the Bronco's launch. Ford's 289 CI V-8 was optional and by 1968, upsized to 302 CI. A 3-speed, column-shifted manual transmission was the sole gearbox available and automatic transmissions were not offered until 1973. Production of the original Bronco continued through 1977 and these unforgettable on/off-road vehicles are even more popular today than when new.

This outstanding 1969 Ford Bronco benefits from a big-ticket professional restoration and build performed by the Bronco specialists at Maxrider Brothers Customs of Bloomington, Illinois. It was purchased from Maxrider Bros. in mid-2019 with numerous highly desirable upgrades. Among them are power running boards & LEDs ($3,200), Black Bestop seats ($1,800), an Icon console ($1,000), a touchscreen stereo and JBL speakers ($1,000), a roll bar with seatbelts ($1,800), BFG Mud-Terrain tires ($1,000), new Dynamat sound and heat insulating material and a carpet kit ($1,000), bumperettes, and repositioning of the shifter from the steering column to the floor. Offered in stellar, ready-to-enjoy condition, this very nicely upgraded and professionally restored 1969 Ford Bronco offers an exceptional opportunity to own and enjoy a historic and perennially desirable classic sport-utility vehicle.
