RECENT MAJOR SERVICE AND DETAILING
Debuted for the 1972 model year, the 280SEL 4.5 was a high-end variant of the versatile Mercedes-Benz W108/W109 S-Class
series, based on the long-wheelbase W108 chassis. Ample power was delivered by Mercedes' M117 V-8 engine, factory-rated at 195 horsepower in concert with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Production of the 280SEL 4.5 was quite brief, ending in 1973 with a total of just 8,173 examples produced.
An exceptionally original and well-presented survivor, this rare 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 4.5 recently re-emerged from approximately 30 years of storage. Retaining the majority of its factory paint and the original leather interior, it is highly equipped with an automatic transmission and 4-wheel disc brakes, plus air conditioning, a Becker Europa radio, and power-assisted brakes, steering, and windows. A full-size spare wheel/tire, roadside jack, and lug wrench are included with the sale of the vehicle. Recent major service and professional detailing make this seldom-seen Mercedes-Benz classic ready for continued appreciation and enjoyment.
