When the E-Type, alternatively known in America as the XKE, debuted at Geneva in March 1961, few showgoers foresaw the sexy new Jaguar would remain in production along three distinct generations. Relentlessly updated and improved, the beloved E-Type matured into a true Grand Touring machine by 1972 with the debut of the V-12 powered Series III models offered through 1974. Most visibly, the Series III cars featured a larger bonnet bulge, larger flared wheel openings, a slightly wider track, a revised grille, and updated bumpers. The convertible now rode on a longer 105-inch wheelbase shared with the 2+2 coupe and comfort improved greatly with longer doors and sills, plus longer and deeper floors. A large horizontal air scoop up front improved engine cooling and the interior featured updated seats and door panels, plus a new center console and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The E-Type went out with a bang in the United States with Huffaker Racing campaigning an XKE racer on the west coast and Bob Tullius Group 44 on the east coast for the 1974 and 1975 seasons, culminating in Group 44s SCCA Manufacturers Championship victory with its iconic green and white E-Type in 1975.

Carrying documented ownership from new, starting with a former CEO of Chicago-based McDonalds Corporation, this choice XKE convertible from the last 1974 model year has been known to us at The Last Detail over the past 20-plus years. Sporting fabulous British Racing Green over Tan leather livery, this XKE benefits handsomely from one high-quality paint refinish performed at The Last Detail. Offering turbine-smooth performance from its 241-horsepower (SAE Net) 5.3L V-12 engine, this prime-quality XKE is highly equipped with a driver-preferred 4-speed manual gearbox and standard 4-wheel power disc brakes, plus air conditioning, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and power steering with telescopic column. Accompanying items include a tool kit, wheel hammer, roadside jack, lug wrench, full-size mounted spare wheel/tire, and a racy tonneau cover. Just 25,118 actual miles have been traveled at the time of writing. Exceptionally well maintained and properly stored, this wonderful XKE Convertible remains highly original and clearly benefits from caring ownership and sparing use throughout its lifetime. Simply put, it remains spectacular and ready to enjoy and appreciate. Contact us today for viewing arrangements and a test drive, and were confident you will quickly see what sets this collector-grade 1974 Jaguar XKE far apart from the rest.
