As the third generation of Lincoln's elite Mark Series models, the Continental Mark IV was produced from 1972 through 1976, sharing a common chassis with the contemporary Ford Thunderbird. Featuring signature hidden headlights with instantly-recognizable Lincoln frontal styling, the Mark IV also featured a Continental trunk lid with a rounded deck reminiscent of classical spare-tire kits and it introduced the oval C-pillar opera windows that would inspire their use by several imitators. Power was delivered by Ford's top-of-the-line 460ci V8, rated 212-215 hp depending on the source. All Mk IVs were produced at Ford's Wixom, Michigan assembly plant, originally constructed for the Continental Mark II, alongside the standard Lincoln Continental and Ford Thunderbird.

A very strong seller with nearly 48,600 examples of these premium automobiles leaving dealer showrooms for the inaugural 1972 model year alone, the Mark IV came one way fully loaded, commanding an $8,640 base price. Production rose to 57,316.for 1974, with a price increase to $10,194. True to purpose, the Continental Mk IV was an excellent competitor to Cadillacs Eldorado and Coupe de Ville, not to mention the Oldsmobile Toronado, Buick Riviera, and Pontiac Grand Prix. Epitomizing luxury, and arguably the archetype for personal luxury in the 1970s, the Continental Mk IV was a staple of TV shows and movies during the 1970s and 1980s, with prominent on-screen use in Cannon, Wonder Woman, Smokey and the Bandit, Blue Velvet, Fame, Columbo, and many other high-profile productions.

This exceptionally well preserved and presented 1974 Lincoln Continental Mark IV left the Wixom, Michigan assembly plant in March 1974 finished in Code 5S Medium Beige paint and the optional  Code BZ Saddle genuine leather interior the original color combination the Lincoln retains  today. Ample power is delivered by the standard Code A 460 cubic-inch V-8 engine, C6 Select Shift automatic transmission, and highway-friendly 2.75:1 rear axle. The MK IV also retains its original full vinyl roof covering, original paint finish, and original interior. Clearly benefiting from 30 years of care and climate-controlled storage under the prior owner, this exceptionally original MK IV has covered 61,000 actual miles! Featuring far too many standard and optional features to fully list here, this wonderfully preserved and presented 1974 Lincoln Continental MK IV also retains its  optional original AM/FM Multiplex radio with 8-Track stereo player, which also included dual front and dual rear speakers with a power antenna. Representing a virtual trip back in time to the 1970s, this 1974 Lincoln Continental MK IV simply must be seen first-hand. Call us to experience it today, get full details, and make it yours!
