Porsches top road model for North America for 75
In response to the demands of Porsches crucial and lucrative North American markets, the 911 was comprehensively revised for 1974 with the improved short-hood G Series chassis. Featuring a strengthened floor pan and revised front and rear lighting, the new 911 most noticeably ushered in DOT-compliant, impact-type front and rear 5-mph bumpers. Model offerings were restructured, with the Carrera the top-of-the-line model in the 911 hierarchy, powered by the 165 HP 2.7-liter Type 911/83 engine specification with Bosch Jetronic fuel injection for North America. Featuring wider rear fenders, the new 911 Carrera was also available with the distinctive Burzel or ducktail spoiler of its predecessor, a Turbo-style whale tail from 1975, or without a rear spoiler for an especially clean look. Available in Coupe or Targa body styles, the Carrera was a big-ticket, low-production Porsche, with just 174 examples of the H Series Carrera built in the Targa body style for the 1975 model year for North American buyers.
Finished in optional, factory-specified Ice Green Metallic paint over Black leather upholstery, this extremely rare 1 of 174 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was produced during January 1975 and sold new to a well-heeled buyer in Quebec, Canada. Other factory options included Canada Emissions Equipment, Koni shocks absorbers, Black painted trim, and Comfort Equipment. The factory removable Targa top is an ultra-rare, one-piece non-folding unit. A 5-speed manual transaxle, 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Blaupunkt AM-FM Cassette stereo unit are other desirable features. During 2017, the engine was professionally built by a European luxury-marque specialist in Montreal, with the work confirmed by a detailed invoice on file. The current owner imported the Carrera to the United States in 2018 and further service and maintenance work was performed, also confirmed by an invoice on hand. Cosmetic work includes a complete and flawless repaint in the original Ice Green Metallic by The Last Detail and restoration of the Carreras Fuchs alloy wheels at great expense by noted California specialist, Harvey Weidman. The engine bay is correct and complete, retaining factory-applied labels decals, the spare-tire assembly underneath the front is complete and appears never-used, and the floor pan and undercarriage is solid, with the entire car maintaining the irreplaceable feel and integrity of a very well-maintained vehicle that has never required total restoration. In addition to the aforementioned Certificate of Authenticity, this outstanding 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera includes the factory warranty book with mileage incrementally documented, plus a clean CarProof (now Carfax Canada) vehicle-history report. Featuring rare and desirable factory options and offered in outstanding cosmetic and mechanical condition, this exceedingly rare 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera is ready to collect and enjoy.
