Featuring aggressive Pininfarina-designed and Scaglietti-built bodywork, Ferraris 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer (BB) was Ferraris long-awaited mid-engine challenge to the Lamborghini Miura and Maserati Bora. With styling rooted in Pininfarinas 1968 P6 concept and first shown at Turin as a prototype in 1971, the production-ready 365 GT4 BB debuted at the 1973 Paris Salon with a 4.4-liter flat-12 engine derived from the Scuderias 312 B Grand Prix cars. A blistering performer even by todays standards the BB and successors remain historic as Ferraris first-ever 12-cylinder, mid-engine road models. Steady development brought the 512 BB by 1976 and the ultimate 512 BBi by 1981, with the I suffix denoting Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The 512 BBi remains a ferocious performer, capable of nudging 175 mph flat out and quarter-mile times under 14 seconds. Just 1,007 examples of the 512 BBi were produced from 1981 through 1984 and the advent of the Testarossa. None were officially imported to the United States, where the BB was a Grey Market import and then Federalized under the DOT/EPA.

A highly original and extremely well preserved survivor, this 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi is a 2-owner example from new with just 17,277 actual miles from new. The Ferrari was properly imported to the United States and federalized by Amerispec in 1983 by its first owner, with documentation included. The current owner acquired the BB from Harry Woodnorth Exotics in 1989 at just 6,000 miles. Most recently in 2021, the 512 BBi was given an engine-out service, including the complete major timing belt service, a change of motor and gearbox oil, a coolant change, and service to the cooling, exhaust, fuel injection, ignition, intake, and engine-lubrication systems. In all, the comprehensive service work totaled over $24,000 with itemized invoices on file with the BB. A fresh detailing at The Last Detail ensures the BB looks as great as it runs. In addition to the import documents, the Ferrari is accompanied by service records, and ownership history including copies of the title from 89 and all recent major engine out service. This rare, late-production, Rosso Corsa 512 BBi is an exceptional find for collectors and enthusiasts today. Benefiting from professional detailing and a no-expense-spared major service, it is ready to go. Contact us to see it for yourself, obtain full details, and add it to your garage today!
