Styled by noted designer Ian Callum, the second-generation Jaguar XK models were Introduced at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show. Internally designated X150, the new XK clearly evoked the classic E-Type with its oval grille up front and streamlined, muscular overall visual presence. Based upon bonded/riveted aluminum construction, the XK also featured fully independent suspension, power steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Powering the XKR was a supercharged 4.2-liter V-8 engine developing 420 bhp and 413 lb.-ft of torque, delivering 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited 155-mph top speed. Transmission choices included a standard 6-speed automatic with paddle-shift capability or a 6-speed manual unit. Directly competing with the 997-generation Porsche 911 R230 Mercedes-Benz SL, the X150 Jaguar XK/XKR remained in production until 2014, with 54,000 sold in total.
