Recalling the legendary 1970-74 Dodge Challenger and based on a 2006 Detroit Auto Show concept car that created intense public demand, the new-generation Challenger entered production by 2008. Classically styled with a modern twist and bristling with todays performance technologies and assembly quality, the new Challenger marked a design and engineering achievement with stunning performance. For 2015, the wizards at Chryslers SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division shocked everyone with the Challenger SRT Hellcat, delivering 707 peak horsepower and 650 pounds-feet of torque from its supercharged and intercooled 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 engine. Cover articles, road tests, online videos, and word of mouth spread like wildfire, confirming the Hellcats stunning performance including 0-60 sprints in 3.9 seconds and the -mile in 11.9 seconds and 199-mph top end. In addition to a choice of 6-speed manual or lightning-quick 8-speed automatic transmissions, the Hellcat added standard and optional features including a special Satin Black aluminum hood with functional vents, Uconnect infotainment system, and 275/40SR20 Pirelli P-Zero extreme-performance tires.
